The Sweetheart of Sigma Chi

The original and most famous in the entire fraternity world

There are fraternity queens. And then there is the Sweetheart of Sigma Chi.

It is the original national college fraternity queen and, with a famous song written in the 1930's and hit movies made throughout the generations, the Sweetheart of Sigma Chi, including the Sweetheart tradition at Washington State University, is head and shoulders above the rest.

And now, carrying on a proud tradition at WSU since the 1930's, Sigma Chi is ready to search for the most incredible woman at WSU to crown the first Sweetheart as we enter our second century at WSU. Beauty and talent, character and intellect, the Sweetheart of Sigma Chi is the best of the best. Nothing less.

The Chapter is also planning to enter our Sweetheart into the bi-annual International Sweetheart of Sigma Chi competition with hundreds of other Sig chapters from across North America.

The International Sweetheart of Sigma Chi serves for two years in a term filled with paid travel, personal appearances around North America, networking among many thousands of accomplished alumni and thousands more terrific undergraduates - all creating a life-changing, career-building, memorable two years. She is crowned at the International Sweetheart Ball and a part of Sigma Chi history forever.

INTERESTED IN ENTERING THE SWEETHEART CONTEST? CALL GUNNAR BEYER TODAY AT 509-554-7390.

We have been so honored to have our current Sweetheart, Jade McShane, reign as our Centennial Sweetheart. We simply could not have asked for a more incredible woman to represent the Blue and Old Gold of Sigma Chi. She is also the first to wear our beautiful Sweetheart Necklace crafted from a chain of pure gold and a vintage Sigma Chi ring donated by late brother David Allen (class of 1954) just before his passing into Chapter Eternal.

Jade will also be honored as the first Sweetheart engraved on our new Sweetheart Trophy now being handcrafted by a fellow Sigma Chi in South Carolina. It will arrive in Pullman soon. The second name to be engraved will be our new Sweetheart.

Jade was also instrumental in setting up our chapter's special Facebook page "WSU Sigma Chi Sweethearts" bringing together Sweethearts from the past as well as Little Sisters from the past, so that the community can remain in touch.

All Sweethearts and Little Sisters are invited to our "Grand Opening 2" this September 11th in a big celebration at the new chapter house.

Next semester, post Covid, we anticipate holding a large Sweetheart Ball to properly crown our new Sweetheart of Sigma Chi, kicking off the return our the annual Sweetheart Ball.

We look forward to this year's Sweetheart competition. You're encouraged to click throughout this website to learn more about us. We're grateful for all the women who have entered and we can't wait to meet you, even if it is virtually, for now.
